Kits for identification of bacteria and detection of multiresistance in nosocomial infection
Project 42
Problem to be solved:
• Laborious phenotypic diagnosis of nosocomial infection
• Growing microbial multiresistance
Proposed Innovation:
• Kits for molecular diagnosis that uses multiplex polymerase chain reaction
• Diagnosis of Enterococcus spp. VRE and ESBL and carbapenemases producing Enterobacteria
• Identification of Acinetobacter baumannii and carbapenemases producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Differential:
• Fast and accurate diagnosis
• Mapping of predominant clones in Brazil
• Identification of resistance mechanism
• Reduction in mortality and hospital stay
• Reduction in treatment costs
