Most existent tests are lengthy, expensive and present cross-reactivity, mainly with leishmaniasis.

Proposed innovation

The proposed molecule incorporates innovation of protein engineering on an immunological biosensor device for fast and specific differential diagnosis of acute and chronic Chagas disease.

• Low production cost device and engineered molecule with high thermal stability.
• Possibility of developing prototypes unique in the market.
• Capable of portability.
• Potential socio-economic impact due to reduced costs with admissions and therapies, which can directly benefit the low-income population, especially in the Northeast region.
