Problem to be solved
“Health-Care Waste Management – Rapid Assessment Tool” not available into Portuguese version, to situational diagnosis and understanding scenarios of integrated waste management of health activities, which may represent obstacles to access and use by the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).

Proposed innovation
Tool “HCWM-RAT” translated to Portuguese – validated by WHO – for development of a national action plan.

Differential

  • Reduce costs with the process of cultural adaptation by other CPLP countries.
  • Can utilize triangulation of methods for data collection, situation analysis and understanding scenarios.
  • It has scope for evaluation at local and national level.
  • It is organized in sections that follow a structure for data collection since generation to final disposal of waste.
  • Questions have been designed so they can be easily retrieved and analyzed.
